Join Our Study Circle – A Space for Shared Learning and Dialogue
Whether you were born in Japan or come from a different cultural background, if you’ve ever had thoughts or questions about your daily life that you’ve wanted to share — but haven’t found the right opportunity — we warmly invite you to join our study circle in Kobe or online. Our participants, including the facilitator, come from a wide variety of age groups and life experiences.
By bringing together people with diverse perspectives and values, our circle creates a space where learning can go beyond the boundaries of individual experiences. Together, we explore how we can live more comfortably and meaningfully in a society that many of us find challenging or alienating at times.
What does it take to build a truly inclusive society? How can we create a world where no one is left behind? If you’ve ever wrestled with these questions or felt a sense of unease about the status quo, this is a place to reflect, connect, and imagine new possibilities together.
Unlike a traditional classroom, a study circle has no teacher. Instead, it is facilitated by a “leader” whose role is simply to guide the conversation. This leadership role can remain consistent or be shared among different members each time. Everything — from what we study to how we engage, and even the materials we use — is decided collectively. Everyone plays an equal part in shaping the learning experience.
Because mutual respect, equality, and voluntary contribution are at the heart of our circle, joining isn’t just about learning — it’s about co-creating a community. To take part in a study circle means stepping into a dual role: both as a learner and as an active co-organizer.
We hope you’ll consider joining us. Let’s think, question, and grow — together.
Do you live outside of Japan and have some interest in discussing with Japanese people how we can achieve more just and inclusive societies for all? Please do not hesitate to contact us via email! You can reach us at info@studycirclesjapan.com. We can arrange an online study circle!
